After being
Ishtar in Mesopotamia
and Isis in Egypt,
the goddess of beauty
became Aphrodite in Greece.



I saw her on a shore of the Ionian Sea
waiting for Ulysses,
the great hero who had decided the Trojan War.
She knew that he was married,
but she hoped that the brave, clever and fascinating king
had forgotten Penelope during his adventures
on fantastic islands
or maybe even on other planets.















But Ulysses did not appear yet,
and she changed her place of waiting.















No chance,
Ulysses continued to delay,
and not even the beauty of the sunset
could console her.





































Finally,
Aphrodite decided to emigrate to Rome…



… where she changed her name
into Venus.
