400 years after the Italian astronomer Galileo Galilei
looked at the sky through a telescope for the first time,
provoking a major revolution in astronomy,
the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
and the International Astronomical Union
decided a special one-year celebration,
which began with a fabulous meeting in the “city of light”,
composed of two successive super-events.
This certainly was the greatest festival of astronomical culture
of all times.
And we were there…
