STAR PARTY PHOTO-POETRY

Nights of magic and black skies.
Armed for astronomy,
we intensely enjoy those moments.
Some of us make the acquaintance of the sky,
while other ones just re-discover it,
but all of us always learn from it.
Thus,
we have to hope that in the future
many other people will come with us
to taste from our pieces of clear sky…

I cannot give a kingdom
for a horse,
but I would enthusiastically climb mountains
for a Moon-Pleiades occultation.

We cannot contour the Universe yet.
On the contrary,
every time our actions to this objective
are beautiful,
but without a concrete result,
and our arms fall dawn after each new try.
And the mystery…
seems to become
both deeper
and more captivating.

Star Peace?
Entropy!
The stars would die
without exchanges of energy.

STAR PARTY NEAR SIGHET, ROMANIA
-astro-photo-poem by Sorin Hotea-
The warm season allows
astronomical camps and star parties
in much better conditions.
More,
the Milky Way, the deep sky objects and the meteors
give a special charm to the observational nights.
So in July 2009 we organized a camp
of general interest about astronomy.
The key moments were:
the rises of
the planet Jupiter,
the star Fomalhaut,
the Pleiades
and the planet Mars,
the “parking” of the Great Chariot
over the forest…
…and the rise
of the planet Venus.

A TV ASTRO-PROGRAM
ABOUT THE VLADEASA CAMP
-astro-photo-poem by Alin Tolea (U.S.A.;
astronomer at John Hopkins University, Baltimore;
born in Romania);
photo (Veil Nebula) in cooperation with Cilian Andres-
A few days ago
I was invited by the
“Noi si Cerul - Us and the Sky” broadcast, Columna TV,
in the Romanian town of Targoviste
by the President of SARM, Valentin Grigore,
to tell about the Vladeasa astronomical camp,
which I organized in the Occidental Carpathians in 2009, August 15-20.
I stuttered…
I got confused…
I smiled like an idiot…
I laughed inopportunely…
I forgot to thank those who came to that camp
and enjoyed the sky and the stars’ feast…
…And I also told stupidities
about the age of the Universe.

STAR PARTY NEAR LUDUS, ROMANIA,
WITH COMET CHRISTENSEN AND MORE
-astro-photo-poem by Eugen Florin Marc-
2009, August 28-30.
The fine weather and too much laziness
(which I had accumulated this summer)
forced me to try to make new sky observations.
So, somewhere near the town of Ludus in Transylvania,
together with some friends,
I observed a few galaxies from Pegasus, Andromeda and Triangulum.
The personality of the sky was
Comet C2006 W3 Christensen.
For alignment, I used its nucleus,
which moved very much during 18 minutes.
And because the Moon was still visible,
I directed my telescope to it,
and thus
our satellite seemed
as watched from the window of a spaceship…

Once,
one night,
on a peak,
a man
and star peace.

Caught in the mirror of the lake
summer stars and autumn stars together
learn from insects and birds
about the music of the spheres
in the silence of the eyes
sleep and death are
the same living peace
on a grain of sand
three universes
sing melancholically
the light and us
truly

Encouraging the evaporation
of the black holes,
when I go to our warm stars
I detach honey beverages
from the naked petals
of the flowers.

When the truth becomes insupportable,
things break automatically.
Not even Galileo could escape
from this law.
But every time, finally,
over the graves of monsters,
under the star peace,
the triumph of universal truth.
