ASTROHUMOUR AND ASTROFOLKLORE

or

Through The Telescope

- astropoetical adaptations based on real incidents -

WATCHING THE CONSTELLATION TAURUS
(SARM’s Perseid Camp, Voievodes Hill - Targoviste, 1995)
- collected and poetically retold by Andrei Dorian Gheorghe -

Amateur Astronomer
(looking through the telescope):
Come to see the Pleiades!

Doctor in Astronomy
(from a tent):
Let me finish my shave.

Amateur Astronomer:
Come to see the Hyades!

Doctor in Astronomy:
Let me finish my gargle.

Amateur Astronomer:
Take it easy, star fan.
You already scared Aldebaran!

ON A HIGH TERRACE
(Admiral ''Vasile Urseanu” Bucharest Municipal Observatory, 2001)
-collected by Mihai Dascalu
and poetically retold by Andrei Dorian Gheorghe-

Visitor:
I came here in a hurry
to see some stars
and maybe even
the greatest star.

Astronomer-Guide
(surprised):
But… all these celestial lights,
what do you think they are?!?

Visitor
(panting like a horse):
They are planets,
of course…

SPEED OF LIGHT
(a SARM public action for popularizing astronomy, Bucharest, 2003)
-collected by Gabriel Voitcu, Alexandru Conu and Catalin Paduraru,
and poetically retold by Andrei Dorian Gheorghe-

SARM Astronomers:
We invite every passer-by
to admire the sky
through our telescope
and to put questions
about astronomy
in this fairy night.

Friendly Citizen:
Once I took
notes from a book
about the speed of light.
But now I’m interested, guys,
in the speed of sight.
